Don't make always the princess a victim
We all know the story about Cinderella. A girl who lives with her stepmother and stepsisters, whom abuse her, becoming a servent of them. She went to a ball, met a prince and fall in love, and marry with him.
I know this story because the Disney movie from 1950 and, like I said in my first post, it´s my favorite movie. The reasons are cause it reminds me a lot my childhood and the music has a lot meaning in my life.
However, there is a detail in this movie. Many criticize this story for the decision made by the character at the end of the story. And I think that this position that everyone has of the character, is sexist.
Cinderella never does anything against her will. She takes a stand against her abusive stepmother and is not reacting violently. And that does not make her weak, because she is already brave when it comes to enduring all the abuses she receives.
Believing that women are weak in situations of violence is also a sexist way of saying that we can not defend ourselves against this. And she takes a position. And, of course, when she goes to the ball and meets the prince, she falls in love because it has been long since someone doesn't treat her well and, due to the context that existed in the old stories, they got married in order to escape from the abusive life that she lives.

there is a version in which she murders the prince, because he was unfaithful. (it's just a data)
