When music tells the story

I've always loved musicals. I think there's a precious moment when the music is telling the story. People can be related more emotional with the story.

One of my favorite musical movie is La La Land (2016) by Damien Chazelle. The music, montage, script, the production are amazing. It's a master piece of the cinematography.
Therefore, my favorite scene is in this movie.

In the part when Mia arrived to her house with her girlfriends, she feels sad 'cause she thinks that she isn't good enough at acting. And thinks that her dreams are failing.

However, Mia's friends try to cheer up her, saying that "life can be better if she has a little more hope". Then, they start to sing Someone In the Crowd. They sing around the house with they're colourful dresses and have a little chorography in the streets.

However, in some point, the music slow down to show Mia in a bathroom, with smooth lights and a mirror reflected her sad face. Then, the party goes on slow motion and start to snowing, and end up with a fast ending with the music and everybody jumps to the pool.

You can see in this scene how the own music and lyrics of the song has limelight beside the script. It tells you the story with the montage. The friends took the main attation along with Mia.

This scene has too many references of classics movies like: West Side Story (1961), Singin' in the Rain (1952) and Boogie Nights (1997).

For me, this scene makes me feel happy and sad, because the interpretion that I made is that life can be joyful but at the same time melacholy.
